Tikkurila beyond the airport transfer
Use Tikkurila’s accessible interchange, then explore Vantaa’s railway history, Keravanjoki and Heureka by train.

First decide what Tikkurila is for
Tikkurila is Vantaa’s long-distance rail gateway, an airport interchange and a destination in its own right. I and P trains connect it with Helsinki Airport, while long-distance trains use the main line. Protect the connection by checking live Tikkurila departures and the current platform.
Read before you go
The Dixi station deck is open daily 05:00–02:00. VR lists raised platforms, lifts or escalators, tactile routes, Braille maps, audio signs, hearing loops, toilets, luggage lockers and a covered assistance point. Book assistance at least 24 hours ahead.
The former bus terminal is closed and buses use temporary terminals. Confirm the exact HSL stop and side before leaving the station deck.
Railway history is beside the modern hub
Vantaa History Museum occupies Finland’s oldest surviving brick station building, completed in 1862, immediately beside Dixi. Admission is free, but opening hours still decide whether it works during a short connection.
Follow the river to Heureka
Keravanjoki gives Tikkurila a clear walking axis from rail history towards Heureka. The science centre is a ticketed, interactive destination, not a quick lobby stop. Its Evolution of Dinosaurs exhibition runs from 3 October 2026 to 5 March 2028.
Wider Vantaa is a separate journey
The Aviation Museum, Artsi in Myyrmäki, Kuusijärvi and other destinations need another train or bus connection. Choose the place first, then plan the exact HSL stop and return.
What's on in Vantaa
Use Heureka’s official programme for its dated events and Vantaa’s event calendar for the wider city. Opening exceptions and temporary bus arrangements should be checked on the travel day.
Sources and currency
Station and airport-transfer facts come from VR. Visitor guidance comes from Vantaa History Museum, Heureka and the City of Vantaa, checked 5 October 2026. HSL and live boards decide the current journey.
