Riihimäki: railways and Finnish glass
Explore Riihimäki’s railway junction, historic Railway Park and separate Finnish Glass Museum district by train.

Begin with the junction
Riihimäki grew because railway lines met here, and the station still connects the Helsinki, Tampere and Lahti directions. Protect any change by checking live Riihimäki departures and the actual platform.
Read before you go
The waiting room is open daily 05:30–24:00. VR lists raised platforms, step-free access to low-floor trains, a toilet and ticket machine. The covered assistance point is on the city side near the Peltosaari underpass; book at least 24 hours ahead. There are no luggage lockers or staffed VR service point.
Railway history is beside the station
Railway Park preserves railway-worker homes and service buildings dating from 1857 onward. It is a protected outdoor environment and many buildings are private, so use public paths and current signs. Anton’s House contains a small permanent presentation about the area.
Finnish glass is a separate district
The Finnish Glass Museum and Finnish Wildlife Museum are around three kilometres from the station on Tehtaankatu. Check museum hours and both directions of the R-traffic journey. Do not confuse this with the Finnish Railway Museum, which is in Hyvinkää.
Check the exact bus stop
Regional buses now use station stop E on Paloheimonkatu. Most long-distance coaches use the Kormuntie interchange rather than the station. The stop name matters more than a generic “Riihimäki bus” label.
What’s on in Riihimäki
Museum exhibitions and cultural events are distributed between the centre and Tehtaankatu. Match each venue to its own opening hours and return connection.

Station facts come from VR. Local transport, Railway Park, museums and events come from the City of Riihimäki, checked 5 October 2026. Live boards and operator planners decide the current journey.
