Kerava: a clear city stop by train
Use Kerava’s compact rail-and-bus interchange, then choose Sinkka, Heikkilä or one planned outdoor extension.
One station, one clear interchange
Kerava station places commuter trains, the bus terminal, taxi rank and compact centre together. Start with the live Kerava departures, then use HSL for the exact stop and ticket zones. Do not assume one ticket product covers every train beyond the HSL area.
Read before you go
The waiting room follows the station café’s opening hours. VR lists raised platforms, step-free access to low-floor trains, a toilet and ticket machine. The unsheltered assistance point is at the Riihimäki end of the station building and can be approached by drop-off transport; book at least 24 hours ahead. There are no luggage lockers or staffed VR service point.
Make Sinkka the cultural anchor
Sinkka combines changing contemporary art with Kerava’s local history and industrial-design collections. Its café and museum shop can be visited without an exhibition ticket, but opening days, changeovers and event programmes vary. Check the exact date before making the museum the purpose of the journey.
Treat Heikkilä as seasonal
Heikkilä preserves a historic farm setting near the centre. The yard remains available year-round, while indoor museum access is seasonal. It is a distinct choice, not an automatic continuation through Sinkka.
Plan nature as an onward journey
Keravanjoki paths and recreation areas extend the visit beyond the compact centre. Destinations such as Keinukallio require their own outward and return plan. Check daylight, weather and current facilities instead of treating them as station-side attractions.
