As of this guide's update on 9 August 2026, Finavia states that liquids taken through Helsinki Airport's departures-hall security must be in containers no larger than 100 millilitres or grams. The total amount may be up to two litres per passenger. Larger liquid containers belong in checked baggage.
At Helsinki Airport transfer security and at Finavia's regional airports, the stated rule is containers below 100 millilitres in one transparent, resealable one-litre bag. This difference is one reason to check the rule for the exact security checkpoint you will use.
What counts as a liquid
The category is broader than drinks. Finavia lists creams, toothpaste, mascara, aerosols, gels and many spreadable foods as liquids. Medicines, baby food and special-diet products can have exceptions, but follow the documentation and screening instructions relevant to your trip.
Sharp objects and other restricted items may need to go into checked baggage or may not be accepted at all. Airline baggage size and weight limits are separate from airport security rules. Check both.
Prepare the journey, not only the bag
